Petit Amélie

A nursery and children's furniture brand with a strong point of view, and a website that was not carrying it.

Children's furniture, direct-to-consumer

The situation

Petit Amélie designs and sells furniture for nurseries, toddlers' rooms and children's rooms — timeless, gender-neutral pieces, from a business that grew out of a mother's own frustration with what was on the market.

The website did not communicate that. The emotional reason people bought the furniture was visible in the products and invisible in the experience: a visitor could not quickly understand what the brand stood for, or why these pieces justified a considered purchase.

What we did
  • Started with the customer, not the layout: personas and desk research, then Google Analytics and competitor analysis to see where the existing site actually lost people.
  • Separated the two jobs the site was doing — inspiring a first-time visitor, and reassuring someone about to spend real money — because they need different pages.
  • Rebuilt the path to purchase for both web and mobile, with the brand's values expressed in the structure rather than in a strap line.

What changed

A site that carries the brand's reason for existing into the buying decision, and a purchase path that works on the device the customer actually uses.
